How To Make This Christmas Less Stressful
|
Each year many people fail to prepare in time for Christmas resulting in last minute panics and shopping till late hours. Many carry on this trend year after year and fail to recognize how to achieve a single Christmas period that is stress fear and one that can be relaxed and enjoyed. It can come down to many things, either laziness or lack of preparation.

If you are looking for that helping hand this year and looking for some useful tips to help get organized for this Christmas then look no further. With a little help you may surprise yourself and other and clear the way for a much more organized and structured festival holiday.
The first decision that must be made is when to begin? Many people who enjoy being ahead will begin shopping around September and October. This will ensure that by December there is no chance of being caught up in the busy shopping that is created around every shopping centre. It will also highly depend on the amount of gifts that are required.
A budget must be selected and stuck with. With many people having difficulties with the last few years it’s understandable that less is spent than normal but again this will be down to individual circumstances. By creating a list of everyone that is to receive a gift and place a price next to each can help create a realistic and comparable price list and total that is affordable and something to remind you of the limit set. Another way of spending wisely is to spread the spending out throughout several months therefore not allowing in December to have no money because everything was bought last minute. Another benefit of making an early start is the ability to shop online and make great savings and not worry about anything being sold out or being delivered late.

Lastly, try buying for families and friends as a group. Instead of buying individual gifts try selecting a gift that can be shared by all and can help reduce the amount of gifts and the overall cost. It can be the quantity of gifts required for all family and friends families that makes Christmas shopping such a time consuming challenge. Try buying christmas food hampers or gift boxes full of treats that can be tailor made and include a personal touch that mirrors the festival spirit of family and sharing. Using several of these but tailored to each family or friend will help not only reduce the time looking for presents but by spending the allocated cost at a total than individually can ensure that the hamper will be very luxurious.
Although these are very simple steps, sticking to them and having self discipline can make sure that come December and possibly even November you can relax and spend the festive season with your family and loved ones relaxing.

Candles at Christmas
|
Candles at Christmas are popularly used for decorating homes and outdoors. It is said that Martin Luther King was the first person to decorate a Christmas tree with candles. So, those who are doing it are basically following an old tradition of using Christmas candles. Christmas Candles are a good option to give as gifts to acquaintances, colleagues and other from whom you do not want to spend too much money.

This Christmas make sure that you use candles to decorate your home. If you are adopting a color theme for your Christmas decorations, get candles in that color. Take a crystal bowl and fill it up with water. Drop in a few flower petals, if available. Next, put in floating candles and light it up. The floating candles will not only give a soft hue to the room, but also decorates your table attractively.
Handmade Christmas candles
If you have the talent for it, go ahead and make some lovely candles this Christmas. You can make sparking candles, aromatic candles, plan candles, sequined candles – there are so many types of candles you can make. Handmade candles can also be an excellent choice as a gift for a loved one. Decorating your fireplace with candles can give out a brilliant festive look. Bring out those attractive candle holders to put up the candles during the holiday season.
If you are keen to learn this art enroll in a class. You can easily find someone who teaches people how to make Christmas candles. There is nothing like lighting up your home with handle candles. Just make sure to switch off the light bulbs, when you are using candles. The muted light gives a wonderful view to the house and room.

The Symbolism of candles during the holiday season
Since the very early days, Christmas candles have symbolized the victory of light over darkness. Candles have always been used by people at home, in churches and for decorating during festivals among other things. Candles have also been given as gifts to ward off darkness. During the Roman festival of Saturnalia, candles were used for the first time. Candles were also used by pagans during Yule celebrations. Bonfires and candles were lit bid farewell to the last season and welcome the new one.
With the spread of Christianity candles started to find a prominent place in the celebrations. They were placed in window sill to guide baby Jesus as he walked from house to house on Christmas Eve. Some countries have their own traditions associated with candles, and they are still followed. In Sweden, the youngest girl of the family wears or carries a crown made of small lit tapers. During Victorian times, candles were used to decorate Christmas trees.
In present day celebrations, Christmas candles find a prominent place. However, candles have undergone a sea change in terms of the shape, size, type, color and ingredients used for manufacturing. You can find scented candles where spices like gingerbread, cinnamon, pine, rose are some of the popular scents used. This holiday season continue with the tradition of using candles to deck up your interiors.

A White Christmas in Winter 2011?
|
Dreaming of a White Christmas in 2010/2011! We’re not only speaking of a Dreaming of a White Christmas Christmas party here either as snow is expected this year. The weather is set to be up and down this season with little chance of snow on Christmas day, a milder November and bouts of snowfall not expected till January, hopefully making 2011′s winter a milder one overall.

After a warm summer, October has finally once again arrived bringing a chillier wind, rain fall and nigh time temperatures of under 0 degrees. Now heading towards the beginning of November I’m sure you are all worrying about the months ahead after last year’s extreme cold.
Last year, we saw the heaviest snow in 18 years with temperatures dipping below the national average. The south of England saw in areas 25cm of snow, which disrupted and cancelled services, from airplanes to trains to and from major cities. Many of you ended up snuggled at home, unable to get to work – granted you got a few days off but catching up with all that work was no easy task!
In the winter of 2011, we are unlikely to see a drastic repeat of last year’s extreme weather as it is going to be quite a mixed winter weather wise according to experts. The first half of November according to weather forecasters is set to be cold (just under average), quite dry and mild compared to last year. In late November, rainfall will increase and the temperature will drop low enough for snow in the northern regions and Scotland.

December as usual is expected to be cold, with temperatures nearly 2% below the average. Overall December is expected to be drier than usual, lowering the likelihood of massive bouts of snow. This will, however change in January as the levels of rain increase and the cold bout continues.
With the decreased chance of snow in the Christmas party season, it looks like there’s little chance of Christmas parties of being cancelled due to snow. But don’t forget it is still going to be chilly in December, so dress up warm!

Are You Starting To Think About Christmas?
|
Christmas is almost around the corner. Each year the music on the radio starts earlier and also the new items for the season seem to sell out so quickly. Here are some ways to prepare ahead of time.
1) Are you planning to have people over or attend a gathering out of the area? Now is the time to look into flight costs and reserve them. If you need time off from work, ask now. Don’t wait till November because your boss may not give you the vacation time as there will be too many people out of the office.

2) What are some gifts your family and friends would find meaningful? By observing the taste of your family members and friends you’ll get some ideas. What kind of music do they like? What do they speak about as the best part of their weekends. This can help you think out something beyond the typical tie or boring gift item. Do you have photos that you can put together into a scrapbook, online video or another form? Pick something for someone that will have value to them and you can do this by really observing their interests over the next few months.

3) Meal planning around the holidays is also important. You can apply some of the ideas from the above section as well into planning out meals. Do you know if there are foods that cause allergic reactions that you shouldn’t be serving? Does someone you care about dislike certain spices? Sometimes a meal can be delicious but if the spice is disliked (such as rosemary) the kids won’t eat the chicken. I’ve observed this in my own family.
4) In terms of gifts, aside from the newest and popular video games which need often to be ordered right away, look into educational gifts as well. For younger kids there are lots of dvds that teach various skills and are fun at the same time.
5) Don’t forget that decorating the house is a lot of fun. Take time to do this with the kids and adding in some inflatable items are great for pictures and hugging.
Waiting till the last minute creates problems in making travel plans, picking appropriate gifts as well as having a relaxed and joyous holiday. Taking the time to prepare ahead of time enables the best outcome for an important time of a year.

Ideas for Spending the Christmas Holidays Alone
|
Skip the Pity Invites

If you can’t spend your holiday with your own family or significant other, spending it with someone else’s family usually sucks. I’ve done it a couple of times and have always regretted it. You’ll spend half your time answering questions about where your family is and why you aren’t with them, so it’s not exactly a way to make your forget you aren’t with them. The rest of the time you’ll spend uncomfortably witness other people’s holiday dramarama. Skip it!
Spend the day volunteering with strangers:
Just keep in mind that homeless shelters and other places that need holiday volunteer help tend to look askance at volunteers who only call them once a year. They have regular volunteers who are committed year round and frequently have all the volunteers they need for the holiday itself from their regular pool. So if you want to go that route, call them in September (or call them NOW!) and start volunteering immediately. Don’t wait until the week of Christmas to call. It is too late by then.
Rent some movies and stay at home

My suggestion for fun movie rentals are Christmas-themed action movies. Avoid all the soppy family-themed Christmas movies. Skip It’s a Wonderful Life and the Miracle on 34th Street. They will get you nowhere.
Rent LETHAL WEAPON instead. That one is my personal favorite. You can watch Mel Gibson totally lose it in a Christmas tree lot.
Or rent Die Hard, Die Hard II, or Reindeer Games. Ooh, and don’t forget Strange Days. That one’s good through New Years!

How to choose a unique dress & party theme this Christmas
|
Christmas time is all about partying, wearing new dresses, exchanging gifts, attending church services and being with family and friends. Around this time, a number of parties are organized. So, when it comes down to your party it is very important to choose a unique theme. The idea is to make the party enjoyable for all those who are attending, including kids and adults. Once you have a unique party idea, next you need to find unique dress to wear at the party. Invite all your loved ones to the party and have a great time during Christmas this year.
Christmas Dress

Some Christmas parties have a dress code, while some do not. Where there is no dress code, you have lots of scope to experience with your dress and looks. If you have been waiting to try out a unique Christmas dress, such parties give you ample opportunities. However, there are certain things you have to keep in mind while selecting a Christmas dress. Be sophisticated, charming and your natural joyful self. After this, no matter what dress you wear it will look wonderful on you.
If you are dressing for an office Christmas party, you need to keep certain basics in mind. Keep your dressing simple, but use interesting accessories to make your own statement at the party. Avoid wearing too tight or revealing clothes at the office party. If you are wearing a sit jacket, wear a silk camisole to get that stylish look. With a simple knee length black skirt, wear a beaded cardigan set.
No matter what you are wearing, carry it off with poise. It is the way you carry off the dress, which will make it unique. So, make sure that you select something you are comfortable wearing. Also you must take note of the colors; wearing dresses in holiday color like red, white and green will add a nice touch to the celebrations.
Christmas party theme

It is always nice to celebrate a Christmas party with a theme. There are many themes, which you can choose for a party. The theme must be chosen keeping in mind the age of those who are attending the party. If it is a kid’s party then the theme can be Santa Claus, nativity party, Christmas music party, and coloring party etc. The kids must have lots of fun and enjoy spending time with their friends. Do not forget to invite all of them to the party and send out the invites ahead of time.
Whatever theme you are choosing, be it an adults party of kids party; you must not forget the essence of the celebrations. The spirit of charity must be reflected everywhere. You can ask guests coming to your party to bring small gifts to be given to orphanages. Kids receive many presents at Christmas; ask them to share some of them with the underprivileged. You can bake a cake or roast some turkey and take it to the aid centre in your city. Celebrate the occasion, by partying with the people living there.

Dress up Santa Claus
Most children know Santa Claus as a big, round, red-cheeked, joyous, old gentleman who delivers Christmas gifts clad in black boots and a red and white suit. But really, who is Santa Claus and where does Santa Claus come from? From a historical perspective, he actually isn’t that old and he has also been known as a rather fiery gentleman.

There are lots of Christmas traditions that are practiced by a number of countries all over the world during the holiday season. These traditions can be as diverse as the culture and religious practices of each and every country in the world.

Christmas trees have a long and exciting history. During the pre-Christmas era, people often had holy groves and trees where they sacrificed to the gods. How to Plan a Christmas Wedding
|
The holiday season is set in a winter wonderland, making it perfect for a storybook wedding. Christmas can be an especially romantic time of year, making the atmosphere perfect for a wedding celebration. Bring the love and spirit of the holiday season into your special day by planning a Christmas wedding.
Choose your date. A Christmas-themed wedding does not have to be on Christmas day. Close to the date would be nice, but many consider the start of the Christmas holiday season right after Thanksgiving. December dates are perfect for this special holiday celebration.

Secure a location. Start looking as early as possible, as venues begin booking up for holiday parties. As a bonus, you’ll likely find that churches and reception sites will already be decorated to some extent for the holidays. It will add some charm to your site while possibly saving you time and decorating dollars.
Send save-the-dates early if possible. Holidays are a busy time for families, so you want to give your guests plenty of notice.
Incorporate holiday hues into your special day. Deep, bright reds and a variety of greens are typically thought of as Christmas colors, but you can get creative and mix unique tones together. Try red with a funky lime green, or cranberry and wine hues. Tie these colors in through florals, bridesmaids’ attire, invitations and other printed materials and decor.
Add the fresh scent of fir and spruce to your Christmas-inspired florals. Carnations are popular this time of year, especially varieties in bright reds and crisp whites. Red and black magic roses are popular as well. Rather than traditional fillers, such as fern and baby’s breath, try sprigs of evergreen in bouquets and boutonnières.
Choose a wintry theme if red and green isn’t your theme. Silver, white and cream create a dynamic winter backdrop. From florals to invitations, cake, favors and more, use snowflakes and glitter to create a true winter wonderland.
Think outside the box for your wedding cake. A dessert literally shaped like stacked gift boxes is a thought, or accent a traditional cake with Christmas ornament bulbs, evergreen or holly.
Create less expensive centerpieces. Florals can be expensive at this time of year. Consider holiday-hued candles set upon a mirror, or fill glass vases with monocolored Christmas ornaments purchased during after-season sales.
